I would like to take the opportunity in praising the IFI on the prosecution of 2 foreign nationals that were caught with a huge amount of dead coarse fish.

On the 10th of January Grigorij Charnaloy and Ms Liudmila Baseva were fined a sum of 3,840 Euro. Charnaloy was also dished out a dose of community service. Their property, including boat, engine, nets plus other implements used in the removal of fish were also confiscated.

When apprehended Charnaloy and Baseva had 99 dead fish in their possession including dozens of specimen bream plus rudd, roach, perch and eels.

Unfortunetely the incidence of fish stealing by foreign nationals is rife not only here but also in the UK. It is my opinion that custodial sentences should be the order of the day and until this action is taken these criminals will carry on showing no regard for the laws of either this country or the UK.
