Water report 19th March

Wow is it hard at the minute. The disastrous low temperatures has killed sport almost dead. Martin Blacow who is a top class angler fished Lough Bran yesterday. He reports a bite almost every cast but the fish were very small. One unsubstantiated report tells me of tench and good roach coming from the canal at Ballymahon. Could be true but I think there is more chance of seeing fairies at the bottom of my garden.

Another report which I do believe is that reasonable roach and dace catches are being taken in the Athy area to waggler and red maggot.

Also small to medium sized silver fish being caught in bags up to 6lbs from the Woodford around Ballyconnel. Garadice also producing hybrids and roach to light pole tactics.

I have had no recent reports on pike catches except one. Steve Morans younger daughter Shannon took a 16lb fish from a local undisclosed lake. Well done that lass.
