Water Report

I had a quick look around yesterday and the savage flooding we have had is now quickly going down. The smaller rivers that were across the fields are now in the main, back within their banks. Although still carrying more water than usual and moving through still faster than normal many are fishable and with the milder weather should produce well to feeder tactics or my favourite method, the stick float. This weekend weather permitting I may fish the Grand canal. I fished the stretch in question last summer. Three years ago it was completely dry and yet I had a decent bag of roach up to 8oz in weight. What did impress me was the millions of fry that I could see in the margins. Providing nothing daft happens it could turn out to be a great fishery.
